People in Peterborough, Stamford and Rutland are being told not to worry about fobbing off fitness kicks or cancelling crash diets.

2024 Data shows that this New Years:

• One fifth (19%) of Brits don't know where to start with their own fitness resolutions.

• 3 in 4 (76%) Brits don't believe their gut health is a priority for new year's fitness, despite Christmas food binges.

• An estimated 3 million people believe that supplements could replace parts of a healthy diet.

Stamford nutritionist Emma Cannings says making huge new years resolution lifestyle changes can be detrimental.

"Little steps everyday are more likely to stick than these big, big steps that people try and take at the beginning of the year, and ultimately sadly fail."

"Even going for a walk around the block is huge for somebody' who's just been sitting indoors breathing stale air. Can you imagine what that does for the mental health?

"You're getting the sunlight in your eyes, you're getting the fresh air.

"You never want to underestimate the cardiovascular benefits that somebody would get from a simple walk. With the diet, include two more veg in one's day.

"There's so many experts in the field that recommend against one thing and pro the other, so it's very difficult for someone to judge the correct way to go down.

"These small steps will heal the gap, will help the mental health."
