A nightclub in the heart of Stamford is set to be converted into a set of flats.

The South Kesteven District Council’s Planning Committee unanimously approved an application to convert the downstairs bar and upstairs nightclub of Willoughby’s into seven apartments.

The building was previously used as a cinema but has operated as a nightclub since 1994. Over the years, it has undergone several major refurbishments and structural alterations.

Several businesses are also located within the building, including Corals, Cuts and More, Healthy Hearing, and UTS Electrical.

Developers have indicated that the majority of the accommodation will be located on the first floor, with six of the flats being two-bedroom units and one being a one-bedroom apartment.

During the meeting, Councillor Nick Robins (Conservative) praised the scheme, stating, “This is what we’re trying to do in all of our high streets,” specifically referring to making better use of buildings.
