People in Stamford are being encouraged to speak out, meet friends whilst following government guidance and eat healthier if they're struggling with their mental health.

It comes as health professionals feel people have lost their 'emotional resilience' during the 3rd lockdown in comparison to the feelings last March.

Dr Dan Petrie is the founder and trustee of Mindspace Stamford, he said:

"They are predicting quite a significant increase in suicides over the next five years, compared to if we hadn't had the pandemic.

"There's going to be tens of thousands of people who are going to be more distressed.

"There's going to be a lot of people who are feeling very isolated, and we know loneliness and social isolation is detrimental to your life expectancy and your future health, even more than smoking and dare I say having diabetes.

"Where you can find it, still try and find a rhythm, because people are just fed up. But it will end, there's got to be some hope with the vaccine, that the end is coming and with that will come the ability to meet and connect with people again."
