Patients and visitors coming to Stamford and Rutland Hospitals over the next few months can expect to see workmen on site demolishing an old and unused building.

Works to begin the demolition of the former nurses’ home building will start on Monday (24 October).

The accommodation has not been used for decades and is surplus to the hospital’s requirements for the future of clinical services to be delivered from the site.

Hospital matron, Caroline Wood, said: “We don’t expect the demolition works to impact on patient and visitor experience. Due to the location of the building, it will not affect car parking nor site activity. However, we cannot rule out a degree of noise during the day, nor some minor disruption by construction traffic coming on and off our site. So we would ask patients and visitors to bear with us while this takes place.”

The work is due to be completed by January 2023.
