Stamford AFC setting example when it comes to girl's football, says Women's boss
England's progress at the Women's World Cup will be inspiring girls everywhere, according to Stamford AFC ladies' manager
The Lionesses' World Cup progress is inspiring lots of girls to take an interest in football, according to Stamford AFC Women's boss.
Manager Robin Chaudhuri, who's just returned home with Stamford AFC Women after finishing second in an international cup competition in Germany, said:
'There is a huge amount of interest in girl's football. We have a highly successful U13s girl's team for example, that appear to be winning every trophy they set their sight on. They'll be watching the World Cup.'
He added that the local demand to get into the game is there, but grassroots clubs have a key part to play when it comes to encouraging participation.
'We're very lucky at Stamford. Subscription rates are extremely low, so the club make it very easy for would-be players to participate in football.'
'The actual subscription costs at Stamford are some of the lowest in the region.'
'The World Cup is a really big issue for all the players, they'll be watching as many games as they can. It will undoubtedly be sparking more interest among girls. At Stamford, there's a huge amount of interest.'
