Council to support Stamford residents with free Pension Credit checks
South Kesteven District Council estimates there's over 3 million pounds worth of unclaimed benefits
South Kesteven District Council has launched a service to provide guidance to pensioners with limited digital access and skills support with checking eligibility and applying for Pension Credit.
South Kesteven District Council estimates there's over £3m worth of unclaimed benefits.
Cllr Rhea Rayside, Cabinet Member for Community and People said: "Pension Credit is a valuable form of additional support and can open up access to other support including Housing Benefit, help with energy costs, a Council Tax discount and a free TV license.
"Claimants may also qualify for free dental treatment.
"As well as the wider financial support we can offer, we are pleased to be supporting those who need it most by providing free checks for residents without digital access."
Pension Credit is provided by the government for people who are on a low-income and over State Pension age, which tops up their weekly State Pension.
Eligible residents can access Pension Credit even if they have another income, savings or if they own their home.
Visit www.gov.uk/pension-credit-calculator to check eligibility.
Alternatively, you can email the team on CostOfLivingSupport@southkesteven.gov.uk.
Residents wanting to make use of the additional digital support can call 01476 40 60 80 and ask for the Cost of Living team who will be able to assist with a Pension Credit check.
