Stamford cyclists set off for "cross" country marathon bike ride
Group of 32 is looking to raise money for a homeless charity
Whilst many of us may be looking forward to a bit of rest during the Bank Holiday Weekend a group of cyclists from Stamford will be pedalling furiously as they take part in a 200 mile bike ride.
They'll be travelling from Lincolnshire to London with a number of stop offs on the way.
The money raised will go to a homeless charity.
The aim is to top the 22 thousand raised during the last ride.
They actually don't start off in Stamford but from near Lincoln, although they will go through the town.
That's because they have a particular route planned.
It's known as the Queen Eleanor cycle ride and it remembers the wife of Edward the first.
When she died Edward decided to commemorate her by building a series of crosses.
Some are very famous like Charing Cross, others less so like the one in Stamford.
One of the riders Keith Busfield told us organising it this year has been very difficult with the pandemic.
They haven't been able to stop off at all the sites they normally do but have found alternatives.
This weekend may see them with sore legs but they're raising money for a good cause and hope people will come out to cheer them as they progress to the capital.
