A mental health charity in Stamford has told us more young girls could face serious problems later in life due to experiencing online harm.

In a recent survey of 2000 girls by Girlguiding, around a fifth of them encountered a person pretending to be someone else, and one in ten said they had received unwanted sexual pictures.

We've spoken to Dan Petrie from Mindspace Stamford.

He told us it has a huge impact on them in their early years.

He says "our young people are facing some really challenging identity issues".

"When you're an adolescent you are grappling with your identity already."

"We haven't got the research to know what's the long time impact of all this."

"There's a whole generation of young women who aren't going to be living to their full potential."

"That's so sad".

"We have some fairly clear cause and effect but as a society we don't seem to be able to tackle these big issues but until we do I don't think this problem's going to go away".

"Adolescence is so key."

"If these women are impacted at that age they're storing up all sorts of problems for the future".
