Prince Harry's highly anticipated autobiography 'Spare' goes on sale to the public today, and it's caused one Stamford shop to break tradition.

St Mary's Books has been selling antiquarian, rare and 1st edition books for over 50 years - and rarely stocks otherwise.

But owner, Marcus, says he pre-ordered copies of Harry's 'Spare' and will have them available to buy from January 9th 2023.

He tells us his decision has divided opinion among customers as to whether they'd pick up a copy, but says it could be one of the most anticipated book releases since Harry Potter:

'Feedback-wise, some current customers are less than impressed about the book, but others are keen - so it certainly divides opinion but we'll certainly be stocking it.'

'It's going to be a big one - it terms of us, it's a little bit of an unknown quantity. We would usually have a limited-edition, signed version of these books. We will certainly stock it but whether it will have the same praise as books like Harry Potter, which had a massive following, it's unknown.'
