Stamford's anti-racism group are urging people in the town to 'remember' Stephen Lawrence today.

The group have been speaking with us in tribute to the black British teenager, who was murdered in a racially motivated attack in London exactly 28 years ago.

A public inquiry was launched in the years after his death to assess whether it was handled correctly by the authorities.

The co-founder of Stamford's anti-racism group is Yvette Diaz-Munoz.

She says it was a tragic incident:

"I thought it's so emotive for people because he was a young lad doing his A levels.

"He wanted to study and learn, and I can relate to this as I have a son at university right now.

"The thought that Stephen was attacked like he was, in an unprovoked way, whilst he was in his prime, is simply gutting."

Yvette went on to tell us how she'll be paying tribute to Mr. Lawrence:

"I'll be attending a zoom event tonight, where people will read out tributes to Stephen in the form of poetry,

"It's only right that we honour his legacy."
