A woman from Rutland has been telling us about the 'overwhelming moment' in which she kissed the hand of the new monarch.
On Friday, Charles III experienced his first encounter with the public as their King, with thousands gathering to catch a glimpse of the new monarch in the flesh.
"I just took his hand back and kissed it, just to give some love and reassurance to a grieving man."
But no one got closer to His Majesty than Vicky Binley, who took the hand of King Charles and kissed it.
Vicky, who runs multi-media marketing company Nimble Media in Rutland, decided to travel to the capital on Friday - the day after the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.
She explains what happened once she reached the Palace.
"We asked what was about to happen, and were told by a policeman that we should stand where we are and that we were in a very good position."
"At this stage we didn't actually know we were about the meet the King of England - King Charles - and Camilla.
"Charles was absolutely bereft, just a grieving man who's lost his mother, who was then having to be put in front of the nation.
"In an overwhelming moment, I just took his hand back and kissed it, just to give some love and reassurance to a grieving man.
"He reacted by saying thank you, and then he moved on. After the event I was quite taken a back by my reaction to him, and I think he was as well."
Vicky also told us that she thinks Charles will be a "fantastic King."
