Today's snowstorm certainly made things tricky for plenty of us in Rutland, but conditions caused an extra bit of panic for some ready to celebrate one of the biggest days of their lives.

A number of wedding guests from Leicester and Bradford, including the groom and his family, all got stranded in the snow on the way to their venue in Knossington.

Craig and his team had to make multiple trips to rescue wedding-goers

Leicestershire and Rutland 4x4 Responder Craig Jolly was one of the first to react to the call for help, he tells us he had quite the surprise when he arrived:

'We came across a Mercedes with people stood outside it all dressed up in Asian wedding gear...'

'When I got everyone to the wedding they were all shaking my hand and there was kisses and cuddles, it was nice just to help out to be honest.'

'I did actually get asked in, they asked if I wanted to stay, but I thought hi-vis and a winter suit wasn't really the right attire for a nice Hindu wedding - the pictures would've been good though, wouldn't they?'

High heels in six inches of snow

Mr Jolly added: 'We stayed at the venue for a bit, making sure people could get into the wedding, it was a bit difficult for all these ladies dressed up in high heels to get through six inches of snow.'

'Then we went back to Tilton to pick up another family to get them to the wedding as well. A couple of the caterers then managed to get the van stuck.'

'...It's humanity isn't it? If you can't help people out then it's a bit of a sad day in my opinion.'
