Rutland Water has featured in The Times Newspaper's 20 best nature reserves list.
It says Spring brings a wife variety of birds to the UK's largest man-made reservoir.
The newspaper said: "From sand martins and swallows to chiffchaffs and great crested grebes, spring brings together a huge number of birds at Rutland Water, east of Oakham, with migrants from north and south.
"Woodpeckers, wrens and warblers can be heard in the surrounding woodland, while returning ospreys swoop down to fish in the lagoon.
"Last year the 200th osprey chick fledged from the Rutland Osprey Project, which reintroduced the large raptors to England more than 25 years ago."
