Rutland Walking and Cycling Festival underway

The first part of the Rutland Round Walk took place over the weekend

Rutland's Walking and Cycling Festival kicked off with the first part of the Rutland Round Walk over the weekend.

The festival will feature the Rutland Round walk around the county border.

Festival Week 1: Saturday 20th May – Thursday 25th May 2023

The first week is the Rutland Round which is a 65-mile circular route around the perimeter of the county, with its start and finish in Oakham and a couple of detours to visit Rutland Water.

The 65-mile led walk will be split into six days starting on Saturday 20th May and finishing on Thursday 25th May.

Rutland County Council said: "You can book to walk as many sections as you like or why not take on the challenge of the full Rutland Round. Click the link below to find out more and to book your place."

"There are still a lot more activities to join over the next 2 weeks."

Festival Week 2: Friday 26th May – Friday 2nd June 2023

The second week is made up of various walking and cycling activities including Oakham Guided Tour, The Cyclists of Stamford Club Ride, Oakham Canal Walk, Get Active on the Go and Launde Abbey Walk.

Rutland County Council said: "To book your place on any of the Rutland Walking and Cycling Festival activities, please complete the booking form below and select the activities you would like to attend."

"The booking form should be completed by each person planning to attend so one booking form per person. Your email will be used to confirm your booking and to provide further details."
