A textiles teacher at a school in Oakham is having her work spanning thirty years exhibited to the public.

Wendy Greaves, who has taught at Oakham School since 1991, is showcasing the work across her career before she retires.

After the exhibition - looking at the theme of 'Unravelled Journeys', Ms Greaves is set to move to Devon to live her dream working as an artist in her own right.

But the teacher has said that the memories she made whilst teaching at Oakham School will stay with her for years to come.

"This was my first job - my family and friends dared me to attend the interview and I'm still here thirty years later," she said.

A taste of what the public can enjoy at the exhibition for Ms Greaves' thirty-year career.

"It's an incredible honour to be a teacher - I'm so proud of all my students to watch them develop and achieve their goals."

Ms Greaves also told Greatest Hits Radio that despite having inspired hundreds of pupils across her career, textiles were not her own children's preference.

"Both my boys are great artists - they both did art and didn't want to come under their mum's guidance. They don't do it now, but they do it for pleasure," she added.

Members of the public will be able to see the exhibition of Ms Greaves' work from now until March 7th at the school's Wheelhouse Gallery.
