A dog has been seized by Rutland and Melton's neighbourhood policing team, and specialists from the force's headquarters, under the dangerous dogs act.

Officers executed a warrant in response to complaints from the community in North Luffenham over a period of time.

The dog is currently in secure kennels, while the owners are working with Police to address issues.

In a post on Facebook, PC McKinnon from Rutland Police added: "An emotive day for all involved, and never a nice thing to have to do, but the rules are very clear with regards to banned breed and exempted dogs, and with public safety at the forefront of what we do, action will always be taken."
