The most famous bird in Rutland has finally landed once again at Rutland Water.

Osprey Maya has made a return, days after the first osprey sighting of the year on Saturday.

The project is still awaiting the return of 33(11), the other famous osprey.

Abi Mustard, Osprey Information officer for the Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust, told Greatest Hits Radio: "To us, at least, it's a sign that spring is here. We would definitely be expecting more of our ospreys to start returning this week.

"Ospreys from the UK will normally spend the Autumn and Winter months along the coast of West Africa, so countries like Senegal and Zambia. We know that some of our ospreys that we have here in Rutland are actually over wintering in southern Spain or Portugal.

"Rutland is a great place for Ospreys, an ideal habitat. Having Rutland Water on our doorstep provides plenty of fish, such as trout, roach and pike, which the ospreys love to eat."
