MPs will come back from their holidays early today to discuss the worsening situation in Afghanistan.

Governments are being urged to do more, after western troops withdrew from the country and huge numbers of people try and flee the country.

Rutland and Melton's MP says she'll be speaking in Parliament later this morning.

We've been asking Alicia Kearns what issues around Afghanistan she plans to raise:

"My message will primarily be for our allies, calling them out for refusing to stand by the Afghan people and the promises we made.

"I'll also be speaking about how we can go forward from here. What do we do as an international community? How do we end atrocity prevention?

"I've lobbied the Ministry of Defence to provide some of its housing stock in Rutland for Afghan refugee families.

"I know that people in Rutland will welcome Afghan's here who simply can't defend themselves against the Taliban."
