Rutland named MOST AFFORDABLE place to live for renters in England
New research looks at the average salary and average cost of rent in areas across the country
New research has placed Rutland top of the list of most affordable places to live for renters in England.
Housing specialists homestratosphere.com, who conducted the analysis, ranked the county above Hartlepool (2nd), Kingston upon Hull (3rd) and Warrington (4th).
To compile the list, researchers compared the average monthly wage and the average cost of rent in locations across the country between April 2022 to March 2023.
The average change in price of rent from the previous year was also considered.
The findings concluded people in Rutland boasted an average monthly wage of £2,600, and paid an average rent of £775, which is down 3.7% on the last year.
Rental expert Adam Gregory, from AGT Property Management and Lettings, said:
'We've managed a property in Rutland for about four years now. It's always generated a lot of interest, at least twenty-five to thirty people arranging viewings. It's the middle of England isn't it, it's easy access to pretty much anywhere.'
'I had a quick look earlier, and there's between ninety and one-hundred houses on the rental market. There was a ground floor flat that was £900, and you can get a three-bed house with a garage for £950 - that's cheaper than what you'd have to pay in other places.'
