Rutland and Melton MP meets Prime Minister and Chancellor
She said it was a "real privilege"
The MP for Rutland and Melton met with the Prime Minister and the Chancellor earlier this week.
Alicia Kearns said it was a "great opportunity" for her to raise the things that "matter most" to Rutland and Melton.
She told Greatest Hits Radio that included things like funding for the areas:
"For too long Rutland and Melton haven't had the funding that we need and we deserve.
"I also talked to them about my campaign to bring more jobs to our areas, so that's setting up a department for DEFRA in the centre of Melton.
"And I also talked to them about things like the cost of childcare and how we tackle that, and how we make sure that rural areas - and especially the East Midlands - get the prosperity and support that we need and deserve."
She added it was "fantastic" to have them here in the East Midlands:
"Too often the East Midlands is overlooked and one of the points I made to them was how frustrated I am by constantly hearing the term 'the Midlands'.
"The East Midlands is not the Midlands.
"We are very special, very unique and we are a real hub of productivity.
"The Chancellor recognised that and the Prime Minister did too.
"So I know we're going to see more investment in the East Midlands and more recognition of what an amazing area we are."
