Disruption to trains expected in Stamford and Rutland as CrossCountry staff strike
Staff are concerned over the role of conductors

Rail passengers passing through Stamford and Rutland should expect disruption as CrossCountry workers go on strike this weekend.
On Saturday (February 19th), staff who work for the rail company are set to take industrial action over the role of conductors and train managers.
As a result, services between Stamford and Oakham are due to be delayed, cancelled or be replaced with bus services on the Peterborough-Birmingham line.

Another strike is also planned for the 5th of March, causing yet more disruption for travellers across the country.
The dispute centres around CrossCountry's treatment of conductors and train managers.
Staff had argued that the safety of their jobs was the reasoning for the action, as the company brought in other staff to carry out the job.
Trade union RMT, who had been negotiating on behalf of the workers with CrossCountry, announced that talks had broken down and as a result, planned strikes would be going ahead.
In a statement, General Secretary of the RMT Union, Mick Lynch said he was disappointed at the breakdown of negotiations.
"This dispute is about a systematic attempt by Cross Country to undermine the role of the Senior Conductors and Train Managers by drafting in other staff to do their jobs," he said.
“Cross Country need to note the determination of our members in this dispute and understand that they already have trained and competent guards that are available and ready to work."
Mr Lynch added that the union remains open to dialogue to solve the dispute as quickly as possible.
“This dispute could have been resolved months ago if our members were simply allowed to get on with their jobs rather than having their long-term futures and their safety critical roles threatened by this cash-led assault by Cross Country," he added.
"The company have knocked back that sensible and rational approach and that's why services will be disrupted again this weekend."
