People in Rutland reminded of ways to protect against Covid as cases are 'particularly high'
Coronavirus cases in Rutland have "risen in line with the national picture"
People in Rutland are being reminded of the ways they can protect themselves against coronavirus as cases are said to be "particularly high" here at the moment.
Mike Sandys, Director of Public Health, said measures, such as regular handwashing, masks in crowded spaces and opening windows to improve ventilation, "may have fallen by the wayside for some people".
But, they are "just as important today as they were at the height of the pandemic", he added.
Mr Sandys continued:
"Covid cases in Rutland have risen in line with the national picture and are particularly high at the moment.
"Like the rest of the country, the majority of our cases appear to be among the younger 10-20 age groups who are now starting to receive the Covid vaccine in greater numbers.
"This will help but we must all take precautions to stay safe.
"Testing rates also remain high in Rutland, which is helping to identify cases.
"I would encourage people to please keep up with regular Covid testing as another effective way to prevent the spread of infection, even if you don’t have any COVID symptoms."
