Rutland County Council say they are working hard to put 'alternative care arrangements' in place for people at a care home in Uppingham, which is closing from tomorrow.

Aberdeen House Care Home is privately run by Aberdeen Care Ltd, with the owner confirming it is closing the home and the firm is going into liquidation.

The council say they were notified of the decision on 21 December, and they have since stepped in to ensure support is put in place to meet the 'individual needs of the 8 residents' living at the home.

Kim Sorsky, Strategic Director for Adults and Health at Rutland County Council, said:

“We’ve acted quickly following confirmation of the closure.

"We are in contact with the home’s residents and their families, to provide support and reassurance, we are also supporting the care home Manager and staff.

"We will continue to work closely with all affected residents and their families to find alternative placements for people to move to."
