The latest jubilee decorations to go up in Rutland are a little different from your average bunting.

Uppingham's now got its own augmented reality beacon trail, where people can scan shop windows to reveal various jubilee-inspired animated characters.

They'll appear on your phone and you can even take pictures with them as though they're really there in person.

It's all part of Rutland's wider efforts around celebrating the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, with the county playing host to beacon lighting, street parties and other events over bank holiday weekend.

Mayor of Uppingham, Liz Clarke, said: 'basically we've put up a QR code with a figure on it and when you use your phone and you click on the QR code it takes you to a story and that will lead you to a figure which appears absolutely out of nowhere, and then you can have your photograph taken - it's great fun.'

'We've been planning this for a good 6 months or so, meeting regularly so the whole of Rutland has got something going on, all the villages have got the option to do something. Oakham I know has spent a lot of money on their decoration. Here in Uppingham we're encouraging all the shop owners to decorate their windows.'
