This weekend the nation comes together and honours members of the armed forces who have died in the line of duty.

Rutland are holding events to get people together to commemorate.

Here's what’s on:

Remembrance events taking place in the County from Friday 10 to Sunday 12 November 2023.

On Friday 10th November, Rutland has its second festival of remembrance organised by His Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant of Rutland, Dr Sarah Furness. The event will take place at St George’s Barracks.

The event will begin with a reception in the Officers’ Mess at 6.30pm, followed by a concert at 7.30pm. This event does require you to get your tickets in advance, funds raised at this event will be donated to the Royal British Legion Poppy appeal.

Saturday 11th November, Rutland concert band will perform at 7.30 at the All-Saints’ Church in Oakham. This event includes a special guest appearance of Katie Marshal, the award-winning soprano.

This concert will feature a range of music all focused on the central theme of remembrance.

Tickets can be purchased upon arrival.

Sunday 12th November, at 2.00pm at All Saints Church, Oakham, the County Service of Remembrance will take place. A parade will take place from Oakham Castle, along the High Street. Cadets, military units, veteran and voluntary organisations will be participating in the march.
