Alicia Kearns MP is calling for the proposed ban on conversion therapy to cover the entire LGBTQ+ community.

It's after the government made a U-turn on planned legislation to outlaw conversion therapy by excluding transgender people from being protected.

Thousands gathered outside Downing Street over the weekend to protest the decision.

The partial ban also saw at least 200 LGBT+ and HIV organisations pull out of the UK's landmark international conference on LGBT+ rights - Safe To Be Me - which lead to the event's cancellation.

The Prime Minister's LGBT+ adviser Nick Herbert said he was "dismayed" by the Government's backwards step, but the subsequent cancelling of the event was also damaging to the LGBT+ lobby.

MP for Rutland and Melton Alicia Kearns said: "All LGBTQ+ people must be protected."

"We have a duty as a government to protect the British people - and that's all of them - so I won't see trans people excluded from this bill or excluded from protections.

"I'll continue to fight for a conversion therapy ban that protects everyone"
