Rutland reporter who covered Ukraine sets sights on 'unknown' conflict

He says the violence there has been 'horrendous'

A photojournalist from Rutland, who visited Kyiv to document the destruction of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, could be going to report on a 'lesser-known' conflict.

Jeremy Hunter has been to battlegrounds all around the world, but says he's "considering" going to capture the reality of the war in Tigray, Ethiopia.

The two-year war ended there in November 2022, but Jeremy says the fallout is still devastating:

'Nobody knows about it (Tigray); it's had virtually no media coverage at all. Something like 600,000 people have been killed, about 300-400,000 are civilians. It's absolutely horrendous.'

He says the death toll there is far worse than in the war in Ukraine, and is concerned the same could happen in Sudan:

'Tigray was far worse and continues to be as well. There's no coverage by the media at all. It's a terrible situation. I've not been to Sudan, but I expect the same situation's going to occur there.'

'I think we tend to concentrate on Ukraine because we see Ukrainians as part of Europe. To me, Tigray doesn't seem to be of interest to the world press, that's why I want to go.'
