Legendary record store set to reopen in Stamford
Past customers include Jimmy Page and Bob Dylan!
A legendary record store - which had customers including Jimmy Page and Bob Dylan - is re-opening in Stamford next month.
Rock On Records' last store in Camden Town closed nearly 30 years ago but will now have a new home on All Saints Street - with all profits going to charity.
"I just had all these records, I saw this shop, and decided just to reopen 'Rock On' to try and move on the rest of the records"
It's being reopened by Ted Carroll, who used to manage rock band Thin Lizzy.
Ted told us: "All the music will be pre-2000, I will not be stocking any contemporary music - there's too much of it and it's easily available on the internet - but one exception will be local artists!"
"I've been a music fan since I was about 10 years old and I've been involved in the music business for over 60 years.
"I just had all these records, I saw this shop, and decided just to reopen 'Rock On' to try and move on the rest of the records.
"As for famous customers...we've had a lot in the past, but I'm not expecting Bob Dylan to come to Stamford.
"But there's a lot of interest from old customers from the shop in London, and we'll just have to wait and see what happens!"
It's the first record store in the town in more than a decade.
It is scheduled to open its doors on March 9th.
