Staff at Peterborough City Hospital now have a more colourful path into work.

The NHS Trust have brightened up two pedestrian crossings at Peterborough City Hospital, one outside the multi-storey care park and the other opposite the main entrance in recognition of Pride.

Jo Bennis, Chief Nurse, said: “As the executive link with our LGBTQIA+ staff network, I’m really proud that we continue to support our colleagues, patients and local community – not only during Pride, but always. We hope these rainbow crossings represent celebration, raise awareness, and serve as a reminder to our colleagues and visitors that we are an inclusive Trust.”

Since forming around five years ago the Trust’s LGBTQIA+ staff network has contributed to new policies and remained passionate about educating staff.

They also regularly deliver lived experiences of LGBTQIA+ colleagues to the executive board and is innovative in its approach to new working ways for staff across all of our hospitals.

Jo added: “I'd like to thank North West Anglia Hospitals’ Charity for funding this initiative and also to our Estates and Facilities Team and colleagues at Progress Health for helping make these rainbow crossings come to life.”

Stamford and Hinchingbrooke hospital sites are also looking to install rainbow crossings.
