Campaigners say they won't stop fighting against plans to build 650 houses on Quarry Farm near Stamford.

It's after members of The Protect Quarry Farm Group protested outside a Rutland County Council meeting on Tuesday (17th), where it was agreed the council would make the final decision.

Carys Vaughn's the campaign leader, told us she understands new housing is needed, but wants to see it happen 'more organically'.

She added: "Housing needs to be built, 'we need places where people can live, we need affordable housing we need all of that.

"But what we are against are these kind of big scale developments bolted on to towns where there's not the appropriate infrastructure, there's not the appropriate road networks."

"We're looking at an extra 3000 homes in Stamford, and addition 6000 people.

"That's a huge increase and we're an old town.

"The roads were originally built for horse and cart.

"We don't feel there's enough protection of the green space we have here".

Rutland County Council said people living in Stamford and Rutland will have the chance to feedback on the plans from next month.
