Proposals to improve end of life care across Rutland
Consultations are taking place on the ideas being put forward
A new strategy across Rutland is looking to improve the care provided for people who are reaching the final stages of their lives.
It's designed to ensure they get the very best support as well as helping both families and carers.
The proposals are currently being consulted on.
We've spoken to Dr Sulaxni Nainani Deputy Chief Medical Officer from the local integrated care board.
She told us: "What we want to do is to hear the views of our patients, families, carers, the staff - the wider stakeholders to make sure our strategy really reflects the needs of local people so we can make improvements where possible in the near future."
It's a very sensitive topic and it's not easy to talk about
"People's preferences on how they're being cared for towards the end of their lives is highly individual depending on their cultural beliefs and personal wishes."
"We want to develop our services in a way which reflects the diversity for our local communities."
"Is there more we could do in terms of developing a strategy and then we are hearing the real voice from the public for the strategy to ensure what we are hearing and developing along those areas and the needs of the population."
"It's a very sensitive topic and it's not easy to talk about but it's the really important decisions we need to be making."
"The strategy is designed to make sure they're getting the best care in the last stages of their lives."
"People who receive the care - we want to keep them as independent as possible."
