Pollen levels set to remain 'very high' this week in Peterborough, Stamford and Rutland
That's according to the latest Met Office forecast
There's a call for people in Peterborough, Stamford and Rutland - who struggle with conditions like hay fever - to 'be cautious of their surroundings' over the next few days.
It's as pollen levels are set to remain very high during the early part of this week across the East Midlands and East of England - according to the latest Met Office forecast.
Dr Dean Eggitt is a GP - He has this advice for those who suffer when pollen levels are higher than usual:
"Closing your windows, closing your doors, and staying inside at peak pollen times is the best idea.
"The obvious thing is to stay away from forests, stay away from fields, and avoid cutting grass, as this would minimise your exposure to pollens.
"If you do need to turn to medicines, you can buy stuff over the counter from the chemist.
"You can get eye drops to help remove the itchiness and running from the eyes, you can get nasal sprays to help clear out nasal passages, and you can also get anti-histamine tablets - which help to reduce all of those symptoms - including the itchiness of the skin.
"You can trap some of those pollens as well, by putting Vaseline just under your eyes and around your nose, so the pollen gets stuck to the Vaseline, rather than getting into the eyes and into the nose.
"There are ways to make yourself a little less sensitive to local pollens, by eating local honey.
"The bees essentially do a bit of a job of giving you a kind of immunisation, so your body is ready and prepared for the local pollen when you do encounter it."
