New burglary campaign by Police in Stamford
'Beating Burglary Together' hoping to improve trust and confidence with the community.
Police in Stamford have today launched the new campaign, showing an insight into what the police do around the issue.
Lincolnshire police are hoping the initiative will see collaboration and support from the community. A survey conducted by the force showed that burglary was the top recorded answer to the question “what type of crime concerns you most in the area you live?”. That was based on 1000 survey responses.
Detective Chief Inspector Jo Fortune said, “This is about showing what we do to tackle burglary, from the moment an incident is reported; how we investigate, our commitment to attend every report of a burglary of a home, how we build a case, and how we use information to understand the problem and address it.”
As part of the campaign, Police will also offer the county information about when and where burglaries are likely to occur.
Over the summer 'Operation Songlark' will also take place aiming to reduce caravan specific burglaries along the east coast. This will be led by the Neighbourhood Policing Team.
DCI Jo Fortune says, "before you set off, think about any visual indications that your home is empty."
- Is your mail visible and likely to pile up on your doormat?
- Have you left your bin out for collection?
- Can you ask a neighbour to keep an eye out and take your bins out?
