Police are trying to establish whether organisers of what was believed to be an illegal rave at Tixover Quarry over the weekend had permission to be there.

Officers were called to the site around 4am yesterday morning following complaints and found a gathering of around 40 people.

The event was shut down, after the group were spoken to . They removed their equipment around 9am.

There were no arrests and none of the drivers who left were found to be under the influence of drink or drugs.
