Plans for a devolution deal which would bring greater powers and more funding to Lincolnshire have been dealt a huge blow.

The proposals would have covered the whole region from Stamford as far as the Humber.

However ministers have now decided not to include the proposal in the first batch of areas to be considered.

Instead Council leaders have been told to continue working on proposals with hopes the deal could be agreed at a later stage.

If it had been passed it's likely to have seen the number of councils in the region reduced.
