Health Bosses will today be handed a petition with over 3 thousand signatures calling for an end to a monopoly on GP services in the Stamford area.

The board of the Lincolnshire Clinical Commissioning group will only be asked to 'note' the campaign for information purposes.

As we've previously reported the petition was launched by Better Health for Stamford.

It's after Lakeside Healthcare became the single provider of NHS doctors in the Town - taking over three surgeries.

Earlier this month one of those received a damning report from the Care quality commission.

The chairman behind the petition John Turner says the petition is equal to around 20 per cent of the towns population and that the situation there is 'serious.

The report before the CCG said it was currently considering matters around the provision of care in the area.
