A woman from Peterborough is walking on hot coals to raise money to get young people counselling in the area.

Daniella Budd works for Young People's Counselling Service (YPCS) - a charity that runs therapy sessions for local youth.

She's hoping to raise as much money as possible to get teens counselling - as many are struggling to access support from the NHS, due to large waiting lists.

The budding fire-walker is currently over half-way to reaching her £540 target - this will provide a young person with a full course of counselling or psychotherapy sessions.

Daniella Budd tells us why she's doing this:

"These young people who are being referred into us don't know what to do.

"A lot of them just feel so in crisis because they've gone to the GP who have been brilliant and have referred them to CAHMS or the NHS, but there is just so many people who are waiting.

"We're getting these young people who are then going - 'well, I'm not worth it anymore then' or 'well, I have to wait a year', or 'well they've referred me but I won't hear from them for 6 months'.

"In that time, not only does somebody's mental health get worse but it also makes them feel like nobody's listening.

"They are listening, they just can't get to them that quickly - but YPCS can.

"We're just trying to raise as much money as possible just so we can get through the waiting list because we have so many young people in Peterborough who just need that support.

"We want to help these people who are on these NHS lists, they will get to those on the list eventually, but sometimes unfortunately it can be too late."
