Peterborough United weren't able to pull off an FA cup shock last night.

The Posh lost 2 nil at Premier league Everton despite the Merseyside club parting company with Sean Dyche.

However the travelling fans witnessed a spirited performance from Peterborough who had chances.

The Posh conceded just before half time having defended well up until that point.

They were still in it for much of the game with Everton's second only coming deep into injury time with a penalty.

I asked them to do themselves justice and they certainly did that

Afterwards posh boss Darren Fergusson said:

"I thought it was a very good performance - I asked them to do themselves justice and they certainly did that."

"I think there was big moments - certainly at nil nil when we had two big chances."

"I said to the players before the game - the moment you feel comfortable in the game is the worry."

"When they scored that had a definite impact as you could just feel the atmosphere was just about to turn."

"I think the goal we lost was disappointing but the performance I was pleased with."

I'm disappointed to go out but overall I was pleased

"Some real strong individual performances in there."

"The game wasn't over until the last minute."

"We had a reluctance at times to put the ball in the box."

"I'm disappointed to go out but overall I was pleased with my team."

Fergusson didn't bring on Tyler Young to face his father Ashley.

He said: "It was very difficult but I've got to do what's best for the team."

"It was 1-0, I have to get a forward on."
