Peterborough United have moved to within five points of the League One automatic promotion after thrashing Northampton Town 5-1.

Posh are 5th in the League One table, and five points off the automatic promotion places.

The Cobblers actually went 1-nil up at the Weston Homes Stadium in the ninth minute, with Guthrie nodding it to the back post following a cross from Leonard.

But it was Peterborough's game from then on, with Posh levelling the scores on 24 minutes as Mason-Clark tapped home from close-range after excellent work from Katongo down the right.

Three minutes later, Posh were ahead as Poku cut inside onto his left-foot and curled a superb effort into the bottom corner.

A minute before the break, Posh made it 3-1 as Randall fired home from close-range after poor defending from the visitors.

On 58 minutes, Posh made it 4-1 as a shot from Randall deflected in the air and Kyprianou was there to head home from close-range.

Five minutes later, Posh made it 5-1 as Knight found the back of the net from inside the box.

Peterborough United are on the road this weekend, heading to Burton on Saturday.
