Peterborough sex offender jailed after failing to notify police about staying with children
Andrew Batty's been jailed for 10 months
A Peterborough man who is a registered sex offender has been jailed for 10 months, for failing to notify police that he was staying with children.
41-year-old Andrew Batty, of West Parade, West Town, was convicted of two counts of rape in 2009 at York Crown Court.
He was also placed on the Sex Offenders Register in March of the same year and notified he needs to tell police about any address he stayed at for seven days or more in a 12-month period, as well as any address he was at for 12 hours or more where children were living.
Batty failed to comply when he was living in the same property as two children in Woodston, leading to the discovery of his breach when officers were called to a 'domestic incident' on May 28.
He fled to Lincoln but was later arrested, and has now been jailed after pleading guilty to three counts of failing to comply with Sex Offenders Register notification requirements.
