A Peterborough man who was found with machetes and drugs has been jailed
It happened on two separate occasions
A Peterborough man's facing 38 weeks in jail after being found with machetes and drugs.
Police were called to the A15 in Werrington following a collision last December.
There they arrested 28-year-old Ajmal Saqikel of Dogsthorpe Road after finding cannabis and cash inside a vehicle. Officers discovered more cannabis at his house.
He was also seen throwing away a machete.
A few weeks later he was arrested again after more cannabis,a machete and pepper spray were discovered in his car.
Saqikel appeared at Huntingdon Law Court on Wednesday (28th August) where he was sentenced after admitting being concerned in the supply of cannabis, two counts of possession of a bladed article in a public place and possession of a weapon for discharge of a noxious liquid – namely pepper spray.
He must also forfeit £646.50 in cash which will be donated to Cambridge Women’s Aid.
PC Mark Mankiwskyj, who made the latest arrest, said:
“We’re working hard to tackle drug dealing in our county as we know the impact it has on our communities and the levels of violence that so often come with it.
“I would encourage anyone who has information about drug dealing or concerns about someone who carries a weapon to get in touch with us.”
