Volunteer brigades were drafted in to help firefighters in Cambridgeshire after a number of fires broke out at a construction site.

Officers were alerted to the fires starting in the Hampton area of Peterborough at around 5:30am on Sunday morning (October 13th).

Cambridgeshire Police had already been in attendance hoping to extinguish all the fires, but due to the extent of the fires, it was deemed necessary to bring in reinforcements.

Members from the Peterborough Volunteer Fire Brigade were brought in to help with the fires, as crews from Dogsthorpe and Stanground were already working hard to put them out.

In total, six different trucks were brought out the the area, including a helicopter who had helped to raise the profile of the fire at the scene.

After four hours, the area was deemed safe, as all fires were extinguished, with all engines being returned to base by 9:30am.
