You can find out more about being a farmer in the East Midlands today (9/6) as part of 'Open Farm Sunday'.

Since the first Open Farm Sunday in 2006, over 1600 farmers across the UK have opened their gates and welcomed over 2.7 million people onto farms for one Sunday each year.

It's an opportunity for everyone, young and old, to discover at first hand what it means to be a farmer.

Visitors will learn about work they do producing our food, enhancing the countryside and all the goods and services farmers provide.

Andy Guy, the ambassador for 'Open Farms Sunday' in the East Midlands told Greatest Hits Radio that the event is great for children.

He said, "It's great for kids, because to see where it actually comes from and how it grows. Its a really basic thing in the human understanding of how we exist.

"It's a great opportunity for them to have a wonderful day out, but learn some stuff at the same time."
