Several cases of the COVID-19 Omicron variant have been confirmed in Rutland.

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) is leading an investigation into the cases.

Rutland County Council has confirmed it is working closely with UKHSA to "take all appropriate actions and identify any close contacts".

All those with confirmed cases are self-isolating.

People in Rutland are being urged to follow the latest Covid safety measures and take precautions to reduce the risk of transmission.

This includes washing hands regularly, wearing a face covering in shops and on public transport and opening windows if meeting people indoors.

People are also told to keep taking rapid Covid tests on days when they are more likely to catch or spread COVID-19, such as before:

-Mixing with people in crowded indoor places

-Visiting someone who is at higher risk of getting seriously ill from COVID-19.

The message also includes getting COVID-19 vaccinations and taking up the offer of a booster.

Anybody with COVID-19 symptoms, however mild, can order a free PCR test online.
