Nearly £3,000 has been donated to Rutland's First Responders by Oakham's outgoing mayor.

As Sally-Anne Wadsworth stepped down, she presented a £2,708 cheque to the organisation.

Carole Jeffries and Barbara Crelin received the cheque at Oakham Annual Town Meeting on Wednesday (8/5).

Mrs Crelin said: “This is an enormous help to the organisation as we have six new defibrillators to purchase over the coming two years and they cost £1,200 each."

“All of our first responders have to buy their own kit, and so we are very grateful to the mayor and to Oakham Town Council for this wonderful amount.”
