Man from Stamford honoured by the Queen for New Years
A man from Stamford's been included in Her Majesty's New Year's Honours
A Stamford man is among many to be honoured by Her Majesty the Queen to mark New Year.
Andrew Haigh is to receive an MBE for his services to the Arts.
He has been involved in the arts for more than 20 years which included various roles such as freelance adviser and board member.
He has also spent two years in China helping create the first domestic private bank in the country.
Andrew Haigh told us: “I have been supporting arts organisations with advice and guidance for over twenty years now. I believe my nomination is about the time and advice that I have put in that’s made the difference.
“I was very flattered to receive a nomination. I have worked really hard, but you don’t do all this work for charities and arts organisations to get this form of recognition. You do it for the actual making a difference to the organisations itself.
“I want to encourage people to do the same, as there’s lots of organisations like the ones I work with and smaller ones that need help and so if this shows there’s real value in doing this stuff then that’s the real output that I want to have. Lots of art organisations need support at the moment even if it’s down to just going and looking at art. That’s what we need to happen as we take all this stuff for granted and it’s vulnerable.”
