Plans for a woodlands in honour of the King's coronation have been unveiled.

Forestry England is asking people to give their feedback on the designs for the woods on the Rutland Lincolnshire border.

It will link two existing woodlands, Clipsham Park and Pickworth Great Wood, which are both already managed by Forestry England.

This will create a continuous area of woodland which will cover an overall area of 443 hectares.

Forestry England say the Clipsham Coronation Wood will provide a sustainable supply of timber, contributing to the green economy, as well as wider environmental benefits including new wildlife corridors, absorbing carbon, improving soil health and air quality.

Two public consultations on the plans are taking place, details below:

Date: Wednesday 13th March

Time: 4.00pm – 7pm

Location: Castle Bytham Village Hall, Pinfold Road, Castle Bytham, NG33 4RJ

Date: Thursday 14th March

Location: The Olive Branch, Main Street, Clipsham, LE15 7SH

Paddy Harrop, Forest Management Director, said:

“We are keen to involve local communities in the plans so that they feel excited and welcomed to this new woodland and encourage everyone to look at our designs and share their feedback with us.

""Planning and planting a brand-new woodland is always an exciting moment for us as we think ahead to how tree saplings we plant over the coming years will look, and the many benefits they will bring decades ahead.”
