Mental health calls across Leicestershire increase by 400% since 2015

It follows an exclusive Freedom of Information Request

The number of mental health calls to the police force covering Rutland has increased by 400% since 2015.

The figures show in 2022 Leicestershire Police received over 7,000 calls relating to mental health - 6% of all the calls they received that year.

In 2015 that number was 1,500.

Just 2% of all the calls the force received in 2015 were of that nature.

It comes after the Met Police announced its going to stop attending emergency mental health calls from the end of August - unless there's a threat to life
