A school girl is in hospital with potentially life changing injuries after being hit by a car in Melton Mowbray.

Officers were called to the collision in Scalford Road at around 8:05 yesterday morning (Tuesday 7th November).

Police say the incident involved two girls who were both taken to Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham for their injuries to be assessed.

One of the girls has since been discharged from hospital.

Air ambulance and ambulance crews attended the scene with police.
