A man who pulled a woman out of her car in Peterborough and stole it has been jailed
It happened in 2022
The Court heard the victims car had a flat tyre on the Stanground Bypass in the city in the early hours of the morning.
She was driving the car slowly when a vehicle with Jerry Johnson inside started tailgating her and flashing it's lights.
Johnson has been jailed for three years and 3 months
She pulled into a layby and the 27 year old reached through the open window to open the door and pull her out of the car.
The victim manged to run off and later returned to find the car had gone
It was later sold to a car dealer.
Johnson who was found to be a suspect was already in prison for a series of burglaries in Lincolnshire.
At Cambridge Crown Court Johnson of Aspley road in Bedford was jailed for three years and three months after being found guilty of burglary.
This was a horrifically frightening ordeal for the victim
Following the sentencing Cambridgeshire police issued a statement.
DC George Corney, from the force’s Acquisitive Crime Team, said: “This was a horrifically frightening ordeal for the victim who was travelling alone at night and dragged out of her vehicle.
"She was then assaulted by Johnson who she assumed had pulled over to help her."
"We will continue to do everything in our power to put prolific and opportunistic thieves like Johnson before the courts.”
